DayOut (“we”, “the app”) helps you plan day trips around London and the UK. This policy describes what data the app collects and how it is used.
Who we are
DayOut is published by Moksha. For privacy questions, contact hello@thedayout.app.
What we collect
When you use the app without signing in
- Location (optional): Approximate location while using the app, to suggest nearby destinations. You can deny permission and use a home base or London default instead. Manage this in iOS Settings → DayOut → Location.
- On-device data: Trip plans, favourites, and preferences may be stored on your device only until you sign in.
When you sign in
- Account: Sign in with Apple or email. Apple provides a stable identifier and may share your name and email on first sign-in; email sign-up stores your email address.
- Profile & settings: Display name, home base, units, transport and accessibility preferences, trip reminder setting, and optional marketing opt-in.
- Profile photo (optional): If you choose a photo, it is stored in our cloud (Supabase) for sync across your devices.
- Saved content: Trips, bookmarked destinations, and places you mark as visited.
-
Usage: We may record lightweight events (e.g. sign-in, trip saved) and
last_seen_atfor product improvement.
Third-party services
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Apple WeatherKit — weather forecasts (Apple’s privacy terms apply).
- Transport for London (TfL) — optional journey planning; origin/destination coordinates and departure time may be sent when you plan public-transport routes.
- Apple Maps / Google Maps — opening directions uses URLs handled by those apps, not by us.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to track you across other apps.
Marketing email
We send marketing email only if you opt in via Profile → Account & privacy → Marketing updates. You can turn this off anytime in the app; your choice syncs to your account.
How we use data
- Provide and sync your saved trips and preferences.
- Deliver place catalogue updates from our servers (automatically on launch and when the app returns to the foreground).
- Send local trip reminders the evening before an upcoming saved trip (if you enable notifications).
- Send marketing email only with your opt-in.
Retention & deletion
- You can sign out to stop sync on a device; cloud data remains until you delete your account.
- Delete account in Profile → Account & privacy → Delete account permanently removes your auth user, profile, saved trips, favourites, visited places, and profile photo from our servers. This cannot be undone.
- Need help? See our support page or email hello@thedayout.app.
Children
DayOut is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
